Crime prevention advice issued following series of key safe box break-ins across Glossop area |
||
|
We are issuing some crime prevention advice after a number of key safe boxes were broken into in the Glossop area. Two unknown men wearing face coverings have been smashing key safe boxes and then using the keys inside to gain entry to properties during the early hours of the morning. There has been two confirmed cases so far in Brosscroft, Hadfield, on Thursday 12 March and Platt Street, Padfield, on Thursday, 19 March. In addition, three further smashed key safe boxes have also been found. We appreciate such incidents will be concerning to residents but we would like to reassure members of the public that officers have carried out extensive enquiries into the matter and our investigation is ongoing. Whilst our investigation continues we are urging members of the public in the area who own key safe boxes to:- *Ensure they are fastened securely to the wall *If possible put them in discrete locations and not in plain view for everyone to see *And, ensure they are locked. If you see anyone acting suspiciously outside residents’ homes, believe your key safe box has been tampered with, or discover a discarded key safe box, then please contact us. Anyone with information about the two incidents mentioned above can also get in touch with us and please quote incident number 109-120326 for the Hadfield incident, and 103-190326 for the Padfield incident. Information can be passed to us using the methods below:- You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/ For emergencies call 999. | ||
